Like all organisms, honey bees are susceptible to various diseases. This means that bee health is an important aspect of beekeeping. Bees@wur is on an international level working on various diseases and in doing so contributes to a healthy bee population in the Netherlands.
The bee scientists of bees@wur have specialist knowledge on all matters concerning honey bees and bumblebees. In our research we cooperate closely with foreign research organizations that are also involved in apiculture and pollination.
Our bee research focuses on applicable improvements in apiculture and the rearing of other pollinating insects such as bumblebees and solitary bees. We pay special attention to knowledge transfer and implementation in practice. |
